Mayor of Baghdad: The book fair is a good prelude to the return of large cultural activities and events in Baghdad

The Mayor of Baghdad, Alaa Maan, said that the Iraq International Book Fair is a good omen for the return of large cultural activities and events in Baghdad.

This came during his attendance at the opening ceremony held on the grounds of the Baghdad International Fair, which was opened by Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi in the presence of the Ministers of Culture and Trade.

A statement by the secretariat received (Al-Mada) a copy of it that “the Iraq International Book Fair opened today with its session tagged (Muzaffar Al-Nawab session) with the participation of (21) different countries and a large number of local, Arab and foreign publishing houses.”

The statement continued that “the mayor of Baghdad confirmed his support for cultural activities in the capital.” He pointed out that “the Municipality of Baghdad blesses this cultural wedding and appreciates the efforts of the parties that were behind the organization of this international exhibition, especially the Al-Mada Foundation for Media, Culture and Arts, whose role was clear in that.”

“It is not new or strange to Baghdad, the incubator of science, scientists, poets, thinkers and artists. To embrace today this cultural carnival and this large market for the product of bright ideas and minds, and I mean books that are the pillar of culture, knowledge and arts since ancient times, The knower of the history and civilization of Baghdad knows the relationship of this metropolis with books, writers, scientists and thinkers since its establishment until the present day, as Baghdad has always been a habitat for creativity so that the contract of the Creative Cities Network was not completed except in Baghdad, so it was chosen by UNESCO as the first city for literary creativity in Asia, as a culmination of its high intellectual and cultural giving, which was produced by great creators.

During his tour of the exhibition and its pavilions, the Mayor of Baghdad was briefed on the participation of local, Arab and foreign publishing houses and cultural institutions.
