About the Exhibition

Baghdad, the capital of the country, with its cultural past and present, deserves to be a leading incubator for dozens of publishing houses, cultural organizations, hundreds of libraries, and cultural and artistic forums in Baghdad and the Iraqi governorates without exception. It will enrich the cultural movement and expand the circle of its activities, especially the organization of more than one book fair, without interference or conflict between them, in order to enhance its contribution to the spread of the habit of reading and the circulation of the book and facilitate it by all means, which requires a concerted effort that exceeds everything that exists so far. Al-Mada finds it its responsibility to emphasize its commitment to put its expertise and capabilities at the disposal of all cultural events, and to cooperate with those who seek to enrich the cultural movement and its activities. As it launches this initiative, it reaffirms that it is keen to be a tributary of culture, complementing the role of those who came before it and those who follow it as it seeks to establish its role in the cultural movement and enrich it by supporting every effort that shares the same goals.Al-Mada confirms the non-profit nature of the Iraq International Book Fair in Baghdad, Basra and Erbil, and announces that it will allocate the income it receives after amortizing expenses to provide government universities and public libraries with books and Iraqi, Arab and foreign publications, and will allocate part of those resources to support cultural events and activities for intellectuals and their organizations, and will publish a book daily under the book project with a newspaper free of charge with the Al-Mada supplement at the fair.
